Thanksgiving is upon us! You know what that means, don’t you? It means winter break is right around the corner and you are going to have lots of time with your kids. Not to mention any nieces and nephews coming in from out of town. If you have a full house this winter season, you’re going to need to get creative with ways to keep everyone entertained! At Octopit USA, we know games better than anything (especially gaga ball – give it a try!), so we have taken it upon ourselves to put together a list of some the easiest and most fun games you can play with the young ones in your home this season.
Winter Break Games for All
Gaga Ball
OK, we know you saw this coming, but gaga ball truly is one of the greatest games you can play with your kids! It has all the elements that make a great game; competition, inclusiveness, and rules that are easy to understand. Your kids will love gaga ball, and we wouldn’t be surprised if your adult relatives don’t want to get in on the fun, too!
Hide and Seek
This game is a classic, and it’s easy too! If you have a large space to play in, this game can last for hours and keep hyper kids occupied and out of the kitchen. As an added bonus, it is completely free and kids of any skill level and age can participate.
Board Games
Board games are becoming a kind of lost art. Why not bring them back and relive cherished childhood memories while giving your kids fun experiences they will treasure in their adult years? There is no shortage of creative and age appropriate games at your disposal. Some of our favorites include Candyland, Monopoly Jr., and Battleship.
Scavenger Hunt
If your kids are creative and love to explore, then a scavenger hunt is just what the doctor ordered. The best part about a scavenger hunt is that it can go on for as long a time as you want and there are endless ways to shake up the routine. Hide delicious treats and then give your kids fun clues to solve on their path to discovery. As Christmas draws closer, maybe hide a couple presents on Christmas eve; if they solve the puzzles and reach them, your kids can open their presents early!
Have a Cocoa Party
A twist on the ever classic and sophisticated tea party, why not have a cocoa party? True this isn’t a game, but it sure does sound like fun! Incorporate other delicious winter treats like candy canes or perhaps a slice of pie. Keep it classy and dress to the nines with feather boas or party hats. Be sure to have a camera handy to capture your kids sipping cocoa, pinkies elegantly out. Those are memories you’ll treasure for years.
The Possibilities are Endless
This is just a handful of some of the great ways you can spend time with your kids this holiday season. We know we’re excited to try a few of these out ourselves!
